A Broader Understanding of Business

My journey as an MBA student at HIMS,

When I started my MBA journey, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. Sure, I knew I’d learn about finance, marketing, and strategy, but I didn’t realize just how interconnected every aspect of a business is. From analyzing financial statements to understanding the psychology behind consumer behavior, the program has opened my eyes to how businesses operate as a whole.

What I appreciate most about the MBA at Harsha Institute of Management Studies is the way it pushes you to think strategically about business problems. It’s not just about learning theories and formulas but about applying those concepts to real-world situations. Through case studies, simulations, and group projects, I’ve been able to develop a more holistic understanding of how businesses function and how decisions made at one level can impact the entire organization.

One of my main reasons for pursuing an MBA at HIMS was to build my leadership skills. Whether you want to lead a team, manage a department, or eventually run your own company, leadership is essential in any business role. The MBA program has challenged me to think critically about what makes a good leader and how to inspire others.

Through various leadership development activities, including workshops, guest lectures from industry leaders, and team-based assignments, I’ve learned a lot about communication, decision-making, and managing people. I’ve had the chance to improve my ability to motivate my peers, navigate conflicts, and lead projects to successful outcomes. These are skills I know will serve me well in my future career, no matter what path I choose. Thank you.

Networking with Like-Minded Individuals

One of the most valuable aspects of pursuing an MBA at Harsha Institue of Management Studies has been the opportunity to network with classmates, professors, and alumni. Coming from diverse backgrounds and industries, my peers bring unique perspectives to every discussion, and I’ve learned so much from them. From sharing experiences to brainstorming solutions to business challenges, the collaborative nature of the MBA program is something I didn’t fully appreciate until I experienced it.

Outside of class, networking events, seminars, and conferences have allowed me to connect with professionals in my field of interest and explore potential job opportunities. The relationships I’ve built so far have not only broadened my knowledge but have also opened doors to internships and mentorships that I never would have found otherwise.

Before starting the MBA program, I had doubts about whether I was “cut out” for the intense coursework and rigorous demands of the program. However, what I’ve realized throughout this journey is that it’s not just about intellectual growth—it’s also about personal growth. The MBA has taught me how to manage my time, work under pressure, and be more resilient in the face of challenges.

I’ve learned to embrace failure as a learning opportunity, to push past my comfort zone, and to set ambitious goals that seemed impossible before. These lessons have not only made me more confident in my professional abilities but also in my personal life. The MBA experience at Harsha Institute of Management Studies is pushing me to become the best version of myself, and that’s something I’ll carry with me throughout my career.

I’ve always been interested in entrepreneurship, but I wasn’t sure how to make the leap from an employee to a business owner. One of the reasons I chose a program at Harsha Institute of Management Studies was because I wanted to gain the skills needed to launch my own company someday. My Experience in College While Pursuing BCom: A Journey of Growth and Learning

Pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) at Harsha Institutions has been an unforgettable experience, filled with personal growth, academic challenges, and valuable life lessons. From the very first day of college, when I was introduced to the wide array of subjects in commerce, to now, as I’m nearing the end of my course, I have gained a deep understanding of the world of business and finance. Along the way, I’ve learned not just academic knowledge, but also essential skills that will help me in my future career. College Life: Beyond the Classroom

College life, however, isn’t just about academics; it’s about balancing studies with social life, extracurricular activities, and personal development.

In the first year, I quickly realized that managing time was key to success. With assignments, exams, and group projects to juggle, I had to learn how to prioritize my tasks and allocate time for both study and leisure. Though it was a challenge at times, mastering time management has been one of the most valuable skills I’ve gained during my time in college.

Group assignments were a big part of the BCom program. Working with my peers on projects helped me improve my communication and teamwork skills. Whether it was discussing case studies, preparing presentations, or analyzing data, collaborating with others taught me the importance of leveraging different skills and perspectives to achieve a common goal.

The institution, Harsha Institute of Management Studies also hosted various cultural and social events, such as college festivals, sports competitions, and debate competitions. These events provided a much-needed break from the academic pressures and allowed me to form friendships and make memories that will last a lifetime. They also helped me develop soft skills like leadership, public speaking, and event management.

The Challenges: Struggling with Subjects and Balancing Life

No college experience is without its challenges, and pursuing a BCom was no exception. But I have a wonderful learning experience at Harsha Institute of Management Studies. There were moments when the pressure of exams, assignments, and deadlines felt overwhelming. Some subjects were tough to grasp at first, especially accounting concepts that required constant practice and attention to detail.

As the exams approached, I found myself juggling multiple assignments and preparing for written tests. The constant pressure to perform well and meet deadlines was exhausting at times, but it taught me to stay disciplined and work under pressure.

While subjects like accounting and taxation were technical, I initially struggled to fully grasp some of the more advanced concepts. There were moments when I doubted myself and felt that I might not make it, but the professors and classmates provided invaluable support. I also learned to seek help when needed, whether from professors, friends, or online resources.

Despite these challenges, the sense of accomplishment after mastering a difficult topic or scoring well in an exam made the hard work worth it. HIMS taught me resilience and the importance of persistence when faced with obstacles.

Another unforgettable experience was attending a tech conference that focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The conference featured industry experts, professors, and AI practitioners who shared their latest research, case studies, and applications of AI and ML in real-world problems. We participated in a hands-on workshop where we learned to build basic machine learning models, which was incredibly rewarding.

  1. Practical training and promising life at Harsha:

One of the most inspiring trips during my MCA course at Harsha Institute of Management Studies was to an IT incubator that supports technology startups. We had the chance to interact with entrepreneurs who had successfully turned their ideas into businesses. Some startups were working on cloud computing solutions, while others were developing new mobile apps and software tools.

This visit gave me a firsthand look at the entrepreneurial side of the tech world. I learned about the challenges of running a tech startup, from product development to fundraising to scaling a business. This experience opened my eyes to the possibilities of becoming an entrepreneur in the tech industry, and it motivated me to think about innovative ideas and how I could make a difference in the tech world.
