Anti-ragging Cell

Ragging is considered a serious criminal offense and as per the UGC guidelines, the listed acts will involve in disciplinary action by the cell:

  1. Any act of Indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with Rudeness.
  2. Any act that Prevents, Disrupts the Regular Academic Activity.
  3. Any Act of Financial Extortion or Forceful Expenditure.
  4. Any activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, hardship, Psychological Harm or creates Fear or Apprehension.
  5. Any Act of abuse by spoken words, emails, WhatsApp, SMS or public insult etc.
  6. Any Act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to human dignity.
  7. Any Act of Physical Abuse causing Assault, Harm or danger to Health.
  8. Any Act of Wrongful Confinement, Kidnapping, molesting or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation.
  9. Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging.

The Anti-ragging cell will be involved in action plans to preserve a space and culture of a ragging-free environment.

Objectives

The Anti-Ragging Committee of Raja Peary Mohan College is always on their toes:

  1. To prevent and protect the student community from being ragged or indulging in the act of ragging
  2. To bring awareness among the students about the ill effects of ragging, its impact on human life and consequences of involvement in the act of ragging.
  3. To make clear among the students about our Zero Tolerance Policy to any sort of ragging so that they can freely communicate with ARC if any act of Ragging has been communicated.
  4. To receive the complaints and resolve them through the ARC – and if necessary, initiate legal procedures as per guidelines 2009 UGC.

Functions

Anti-Ragging Unit, established according to the regulations of the UGC, constituted by the Governing Body of the college is the moral police of our College. The Cell’s responsibility is to 

  1. Ensure that students maintain discipline in the classrooms and within the college campus. 
  2. Members of the cell regularly go on rounds to each and every classroom to make note of errant behavior and 
  3. To make sure that the college campus is free from ragging and eve teasing. 
  4. The cell will take severe punitive action against students indulging in such heinous activities.
  5. Convenors shall examine all complaints of anti-ragging and come out with recommendation based on the nature of the incident.
  6. The students can make use of the suggestions given by the cell to make their complaints regarding ragging.

Activities

  1. The first and foremost task of Anti Ragging Unit (ARU) of the college is to create awareness among students with respect to ill effects of ragging and necessary rules and regulations of the college.
  2. The Principal is the head of the institution. He along with members of the committee and IQAC creates awareness about ragging and indiscipline during the first-year induction program. 
  3. The Principal along with the cell and IQAC will takes the decisions and corrective measures with respect to any ragging and indiscipline. 
  4. The members will counsel the victims of ragging and the offender of the offense.
  5. Anti- ragging movements, slogans, directives are initiated by the institutions right from the time of advertisement for admissions. 
  6. The prospectus for admission issued to aspirants for admission clearly mentions that ragging is banned in the institution and anyone indulging in ragging is likely to be punished appropriately with punishment.
